Benin Monarch,Igbinedion feud gets messier

What appears to be no retreat and no surrender in the age long feud between Royal Father, Omo N’oba Erediauwa and the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion may portend seeming “unforgiving spirit” for the alleged “proud” Esama.

It was gathered that Gabriel Igbinedion had always apologized for particular sins with a promised to change but became incorrigible after succeeding to hoodwink the Edo people including the Monarch that he had changed While his “presumptuous” attitude prevails more troubles for him, sources say that the Esama allegedly committed many sacrileges in the entire Benin Kingdom making it difficult to immediately forgive him

It was gathered that Chief Igbinedion had been a “scared cow” in the ancient Benin Kingdom, especially his home town Okada, where he allegedly confiscated vast parcel of land.
Sources squealed that virtually all residents cum indigenes of Okada Community hitherto have no toilet to call their own, a situation which resulted Igbinedion as the only landlord and no space to build toilets.

As it were, the Esama has almost changed Okada to the “Igbinedion Town” with the entire streets named before him.The Esama who sojourned as constable, cook for many years, sauntered into stardom through “thick and tank” with conglomerates of business, including Okada Air Line which today seen moribund and “apology” to other Airline owners.

The man who also ventured in Newspaper business, floated “The Speaker” which could not stand the taste of time rather went under with several months’ salaries unpaid its workers. Although, the billionaire Esama has empowered millions of persons, but he is seen as a “pelican bird” whose house is never organized especially as unconfirmed sources said that no fewer than 12 native doctors are alleged to be working for him to ward off enemies in possible attack. Apart from his “proud” nature, it’s said that the arrogant Esama had allegedly assumed the position of the Oba of Benin on several visits abroad with some palace chiefs who alongside with him were barred from palace activities but the chiefs had since begged the Omo N’oba for forgiveness and were subsequently pardoned.

Insider said that Esama among other things was fined by the Monarch with a view to settling the “abomination” but allegedly refused to adhere to the fines.

Instead, he was said to have mobilized market women ransom of N500,000 each to beg the Monarch, a situation observers viewed as disrespect for the Monarch and traditions. Insider also said that the market women were allegedly locked out of the palace and where sweating profusely inside the sun, as it was said that they were working for their money. “The Benin market women who begged must have been given bribe to do so, the man has no respect for the institution” a palace chief who pleaded anonymity said.

Mr. Robinson Osayamwen, information officer of the Benin Traditional Council said the Monarch considered his apology not too important but for the sake of Benin unity he may be given pardon.
