Busta go wild in Nigeria, lost and found his passport

Rapper Busta Rhymes nearly cancelled the Abuja leg of his Star Megajam performance last weekend, after he discovered his international passport was missing.

The hip hop veteran was visibly upset and troubled, and threatened not to go ahead with his performance, after he searched for his American passport, and told his aides it appeared the passport was missing.

His mood changed and his temper rose. No one knew what drama would follow.

It was early afternoon on Saturday December 12.

”I’m going to have somebody shot tonight”, an upset Busta screamed, before calling his people and telling them he wasnt going ahead with the show if he couldn’t find his missing passport.

”He remembered the last time he saw it was in the car that took them to the hotel, so he told everyone he suspected the driver”, a source who was present said.

Busta, Ludacris and the rest of the Star Megajam crew arrived Abuja shortly after noon, aboard a Chartered Arik Air flight, last Saturday. A Range Rover vogue took Busta and Luda to Transcorp Hilton hotel where they stayed with their crew.

And it was while disembarking at the hotel, that the rapper’s passport fell from his lap, according to an eye witness.

”A member of his entourage picked it up, hoping to give it to him later”, our source told us.

”The guy came back and saw Busta going wild. Then he told him. ‘I got your passport; it fell in the car”.

Relieved, but embarrassed, Busta reportedly tried to find the driver to offer apologies, but promoter Sheila Okonji promised to apologise on his behalf.

”It wasn’t funny you know”, said one of the organisers who didn’t want her name mentioned. ”Busta losing his passport in Nigeria”

A day before, at the Polo grounds in Lagos, Busta Rhymes gave a good account of himself.

Thankfully, his ‘lost-and-found’ passport drama didn’t diminish his Abuja performance. The veteran showed he’s still the master of the game, as he treated fans to hit after hit; dipping his hands into a repertoire of hits from the eighties through the nineties and 2000s. Together with his hypesman Spliff Star, the rapper worked the crowd, engaged in call-and-response, and gave the crowd-and the organisers- thumbs up.

Busta Rhymes showed the fans love. And they threw it right back at him. Even Nigerian stars Djinee, MI, Jesse Jagz, Baba Dee and Wande Coal rocked his set – fixing their gaze on his stage, looking like they were taking performance lessons from one of the world’s greatest.

Sadly, Ludacris didn’t have Busta’s impact on the audience. The ‘king of the South’ who appeared before Busta, dished out cut after cut: ‘pimping all over the world’, ‘you is a hoe’, ‘area code’, ‘pop champagne’, ‘i wanna lick’ and more; but his performance was lack-lustre and he and his band failed to connect with the audience.

Busta Rhymes left Nigeria early Sunday while Ludacris departed the country around 10PM local time.
......Thank God oh! this would ve been another dent to our already dented image,so Busta Nigeria is a good host!

Benin Monarch,Igbinedion feud gets messier

What appears to be no retreat and no surrender in the age long feud between Royal Father, Omo N’oba Erediauwa and the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion may portend seeming “unforgiving spirit” for the alleged “proud” Esama.

It was gathered that Gabriel Igbinedion had always apologized for particular sins with a promised to change but became incorrigible after succeeding to hoodwink the Edo people including the Monarch that he had changed While his “presumptuous” attitude prevails more troubles for him, sources say that the Esama allegedly committed many sacrileges in the entire Benin Kingdom making it difficult to immediately forgive him

Igbinedion seen here with Obasanjo, the former president

It was gathered that Chief Igbinedion had been a “scared cow” in the ancient Benin Kingdom, especially his home town Okada, where he allegedly confiscated vast parcel of land.
Sources squealed that virtually all residents cum indigenes of Okada Community hitherto have no toilet to call their own, a situation which resulted Igbinedion as the only landlord and no space to build toilets.

As it were, the Esama has almost changed Okada to the “Igbinedion Town” with the entire streets named before him.The Esama who sojourned as constable, cook for many years, sauntered into stardom through “thick and tank” with conglomerates of business, including Okada Air Line which today seen moribund and “apology” to other Airline owners.

The man who also ventured in Newspaper business, floated “The Speaker” which could not stand the taste of time rather went under with several months’ salaries unpaid its workers. Although, the billionaire Esama has empowered millions of persons, but he is seen as a “pelican bird” whose house is never organized especially as unconfirmed sources said that no fewer than 12 native doctors are alleged to be working for him to ward off enemies in possible attack. Apart from his “proud” nature, it’s said that the arrogant Esama had allegedly assumed the position of the Oba of Benin on several visits abroad with some palace chiefs who alongside with him were barred from palace activities but the chiefs had since begged the Omo N’oba for forgiveness and were subsequently pardoned.

Insider said that Esama among other things was fined by the Monarch with a view to settling the “abomination” but allegedly refused to adhere to the fines.

Instead, he was said to have mobilized market women ransom of N500,000 each to beg the Monarch, a situation observers viewed as disrespect for the Monarch and traditions. Insider also said that the market women were allegedly locked out of the palace and where sweating profusely inside the sun, as it was said that they were working for their money. “The Benin market women who begged must have been given bribe to do so, the man has no respect for the institution” a palace chief who pleaded anonymity said.

Mr. Robinson Osayamwen, information officer of the Benin Traditional Council said the Monarch considered his apology not too important but for the sake of Benin unity he may be given pardon.

Shan George speaks on her root, music and movie career

Shan George started out in 1996 as an undergraduate at the University of Lagos in the movie Thorns of Rose which was produced by the late Jennifer Ossai, Emeka Ossai’s late wife. Two years after, In 1998 She produced a movie, ‘All For Women’ and today owns a production outfit called Shan George Productions. Shan George recently completed shooting for a new movie – Super Zebra Man financed by herself, her young lover – Akin and some Spaniard filmmakers and in this interview, she talk about her mixed background – growing up with her mom and her music career. Excerpts:

I was reading about your beginnings and you seem to be a typical village girl. Was growing up hard ?

Not really. I grew up like a normal healthy village girl. My mother was a nurse and she wasn’t earning that much but she made sure I read my books, she made sure I went to school and she showed me so love. It wasn’t bad or difficult growing up in the village. I lived in a normal house, slept on the bed, went to school with other children. There was nothing outstanding about my village life.

Actually, I am trying to find out if you were an aje butter (high class)or aje pako (low class).

(Laughs) Okay, let us not say I am aje butter or aje pako. It should be something between the two. Maybe, aje pomo (hide) (Laughs). It wasn’t butter for me and not pako either. So, it must be something like pomo. I’m a complete aje pomo. (Laughs)

What about your siblings? How many are you?

I’m an only child.

How was it growing up as an only child?

Very lonely. But I was in the village and there were cousins and other relations. We all went to the farm together, went to pick snails together, went to the stream together.

We were always going everywhere in groups. You know, in the villages, they always have these age grades and so, me and members of my age grade always moved together.

I was an only child and it was a communal life. There were always cousins and I didn’t grow up alone. It’s lonely psychologically because sometimes when the nitty gets to the gritty, you need somebody but there was nobody around. When others went home to attend to their brothers and sisters, I had no sister or brother to attend to me.

So, it could be lonely and psychologically, being the only child isn’t the best.

Village life could be tough.

When you say tough life, one can have a tough life living in the city. It depends on what you are doing and how life is treating you. There are people in the villages who are living well and there are people in the cities who are suffering.

Even in Lagos, there are people who are finding things really tough. Some don’t have homes. They live under the bridge. They beg on the streets for food. You cannot say that because one is in the village, it is tough. No, there are people in the village who are really enjoying life more than some people in the big cities. And in my case, I didn’t suffer.

Yes, I went to the farm. I went to the stream, climbed trees and did all those typical things they do in the village. But we had all our food fresh. We went to the farm and plucked fresh vegetables, fruits, corn. Even the yam was fresh. The palm oil was original and very fresh.

Your father is English?

Yes, and dead.

Have you gone to search for your roots?

You should know that in the Western world, particularly the white people, they are not very keen about the extended family issues. And I grew up with my mother who showed me love and took very good care of me.

She taught me a lot. My father is late, and I missed him. I always wished I grew up with my daddy but really, I didn’t try to search for my father’s family until about seven years ago after I had grown up. I tried to look for them but I had a problem there.

When they heard you are from Africa, particularly Nigeria and with our bad image abroad, they would probably think this Nigerian girl had come to ’chop’ their money.

So, I gave up along the line. I would have loved to know them.

You are working on something. What is it?

I’m working on my new music that I’m supposed to perform at the Calabar Carnival.

What type of music is it?

It’s cultural music. It’s like high life.

It seems so many Nollywood stars are going into music and none has had a breakthrough musically. I hope yours would be different.

I hope to succeed. My music is a native high life because all my songs are done in my native dialect. I’m trying to promote our culture through my music.

This ‘Super Zebra Man’ Film. What’s your projection? Is it in the mode of Stephanie Okereke’s Through the Glass?

I’m really hoping it meets up to that standard. But it’s not the usual Nollywood film. It’s unique and I believe success in everything is by the grace of God. What I am trying to do now is my best and then I will leave the rest to God. I pray it will be successful.

When is the premiere?

We have just finished the shooting and we will start editing in January. We are not editing in Nigeria because the equipment we used was brought from outside. We don’t have the format here. So, we will edit in Barcelona.
.....I bet the interviewer was not allowedto ask Shan about her love life..you did hear Akin the young lover, its not the Aki and pawpaw bt a different Akin. but for now enjoy her music
